Universitas AMIKOM Yogyakarta strengthened its international cooperation with Fire University through the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Training programme in Warsaw, Poland, on 12–16 October 2026. In addition to participating in training activities, the delegation completed the documentation process for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing a foundation for further collaboration between the two institutions.
The programme brought together three lecturers: Gardyas Bidari Adninda, S.T., M.A., from the Undergraduate Programme in Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Science and Technology; Aditya Maulana Hasymi, S.IP., M.A., from the Undergraduate Programme in International Relations, Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences; and Eli Pujastuti, M.Kom., from the Undergraduate Programme in Informatics, Faculty of Computer Science.
Aditya explained that the partnership with Fire University developed through connections established during a previous Erasmus research project. These connections subsequently led to an application for an academic mobility scheme designed to provide staff training and student learning opportunities at partner institutions.
The cooperation includes opportunities for reciprocal academic staff mobility. Alongside sending lecturers from Universitas AMIKOM Yogyakarta to Fire University, the scheme provides opportunities to host delegations from the partner institution. For students, Aditya outlined the prospect of undertaking one semester of study with credit transfer arrangements.
During the training programme, the Universitas AMIKOM Yogyakarta delegation joined representatives from the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety in Kosovo and Burgas State University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” in Bulgaria. Participants were welcomed by Col. Wiktor Gawroński, PhD Fire Eng., Vice-Rector for Education and Students at Fire University.
Participants learned about Fire University’s institutional profile, teaching and research facilities, and training system for future fire, rescue, and security professionals. The programme combined academic presentations, discussions with professors, and visits to laboratories and training facilities.
The visits included the Fire and Rescue Unit, alongside introductions to combustion processes, emergency medical services, chemical and ecological rescue, and rescue equipment. Each unit presented its teaching and research activities, as well as the equipment used to support training.

Aditya explained that the combination of theoretical learning and practical demonstrations helped participants understand the relationship between research and its application. The delegation had opportunities to observe firefighting vehicles and equipment, learn about the development of protective clothing, visit testing facilities, and receive an introduction to first aid.
In addition to attending training sessions, the delegations presented their respective institutions, projects, and initiatives. Universitas AMIKOM Yogyakarta used this opportunity to introduce its academic activities and identify potential areas of collaboration with other participating institutions.
Aditya expressed his hope that the partnership would continue to develop through joint proposals under the Erasmus+ programme. Potential areas for further cooperation include education, research, curriculum development, and student learning experiences.
Through the training programme and the formalisation of cooperation documents, Universitas AMIKOM Yogyakarta expanded its academic network and established a foundation for joint activities with Fire University. Further collaboration is expected to create additional opportunities for professional development and knowledge exchange for both lecturers and students.
